Part photo book, part time capsule — When the Iron Bird Flies captures the artists, activists, and moments that defined the Tibetan Freedom Concerts of 1996–1999. Through Danny Clinch's photographs and stories, you get a backstage look at the remarkable chapter when the Beastie Boys, U2, Radiohead, Björk, Rage Against the Machine, and Pearl Jam came together in support of  Tibet's freedom movement and the Milarepa Fund.

Limited quantities available — never reprinted.

Why this book is rare: Published in late 2000 by Razorfish Studios (RSUB), the experimental media wing of the pioneering dot-com agency Razorfish. When the studio dissolved in 2001 after the tech-bubble crash, distribution stopped almost immediately — making this collection of iconic backstage imagery a sought-after music-history artifact.

Thanks to Danny Clinch's generosity, proceeds support Freedom Needs a Soundtrack, Students for a Free Tibet, and Tibet Action Institute.
